Thurgoland Village Hall Journey To Net Zero
John Anderson, the Treasurer of Thurgoland Village Hall in Sheffield has recently switched to renewable energy. In a recent interview, John discussed his experiences with the Net Zero Barnsley Project, highlighting how the village hall has adopted eco-friendly measures in order to protect the environment and keep energy bills to a minimum. Future Proof Solar were responsible for the solar and battery installation that took place at the village hall, with partial funding provided by a grant from the South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority.
Why is Net Zero so important?
At Future Proof Solar, our mission is to help customers achieve net-zero energy through customised solar solutions. By supplying and installing high-quality solar panels, we empower business owners and homes across the UKto reduce their carbon footprint and support the transition to renewable energy.
Why is it important for businesses to switch to solar energy?
Reduced carbon footprint
Solar power generation is emissions-free, and comprehensive life-cycle analyses have confirmed its significantly lower carbon footprint compared to fossil fuel sources.
Energy independence
Businesses that rely on the centralised power grid can achieve greater energy independence by installing solar panels.
Cheaper electricity bills
Transitioning to solar power can dramatically cut or even eliminate businesses’ utility costs. By generating their own electricity, companies can shield themselves from the risk of future spikes in utility prices. Take the recent news from Offgem as an example of this, where UK household energy prices are due to rise 10% from October 1st to December the 31st. By installing a solar system with us, John has successfully future proofed the village hall from these price increases.
Return on investment
For many businesses, investing in solar power can be a smart financial decision, as the investment typically pays for itself within 3-5 years.
Tax benefits
Businesses that install solar panels may qualify for tax credits worth up to 30% of the total panel cost.
Improved reputation
Adopting solar energy can help businesses showcase their commitment to corporate social responsibility and attract environmentally conscious consumers.
